Counseling

AltCare Health Center approaches counseling from a holistic viewpoint, combining the scientific knowledge of a psychotherapist with the theological education of a pastoral counselor. Counseling is a way of listening with compassion and reflecting with wisdom that engages the capacity to heal and transform the conditions and problems that undermine our mental health and wellness.

Counseling is useful for individuals, families and couples when life’s challenges seem unmanageable. At AltCare we provide a safe and confidential space to allow experiences of anxiety, depression, trauma from abuse, addiction, struggle with sexual identity, parenting struggles, intimacy inhibition or grief to unfold and bring about transformation.

Elizabeth (Betsy) Ritzman, LCPC is the counseling provider for AltCare Health Center. She was trained at Kansas State University (M.S.) and McCormick Theological Seminary (M.Div.) in counseling and psychotherapy. She is licensed to practice in the State of Illinois and is a member of the American Association of Patoral Counselors.
