Chiropractic

Chiropractors like medical doctors (MDs) and doctors of osteopathy (DOs) are licensed physicians in the State of Illinois. Chiropractors are the most carefully trained doctors in the function and health of the musculoskeletal system. While chiropractic is used primarily for pain and illness relief, its focus is equally on health maintenance and prevention. Body manipulations revitalize the nerves by reintroducing motion to poorly moving joints of the spine, arms, legs, head and face.

Some joint malfunction occurs suddenly as in torn muscle of a sports injury or a “whiplash” injury that occurs in rear-end automobile collision. Other obvious causes of pain may be due to repetitive motion injury as in the operating of a computer mouse. Still other conditions develop slowly over time even though the onset of discomfort may appear suddenly.

As a part of every treatment, time is spent manipulating involved muscles to relax and loosen them. This enables the spine adjustment to last longer. Other therapies, such as electrical stimulation or ultrasound, may be used to speed healing and relieve pain. Chiropractic treatment is comfortable and side effects are mild and rare.
